Former NXT champion Sami Zayn will be undergoing shoulder surgery which is why his match with Kevin Owens was over quicker than most anticipated.
Zayn injured his shoulder during his entrance in Montreal after he answered John Cena’s U.S. title open challenge. Zayn still went on to have a fantastic match against the champion and was given a standing ovation by the home town crowd after it was over.
His injury put some question marks over his participation at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable, however Zayn wrestled after he was taken out from all NXT activities leading up to the show.
It’s not known how long Zayn will be out of action.
