Former NXT champion Robert Roode underwent a successful second spinal fusion surgery last week. The surgery was performed by Dr Andy Cordover of the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
“Another trip around the sun and another trip to Birmingham Alabama,” Roode wrote on what was his 47th birthday. “Quite a way to celebrate my birthday lol. Had a C4/5 cervical fusion to go along with the C5/6 fusion back in November.”
Roode has not wrestled on television since April 2022, with his last appearance coming at the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Smackdown during WrestleMania 38 weekend. His last match was on June 25 against Omos at a non-televised live event in Amarillo, Texas.
It is unknown how long Roode will be out of action for again but typical recovery time for light movements is around six weeks and months until Roode can even think of getting back in the ring.
