Mick Foley admitted that while he needs a hip replacement surgery, just like many other former Superstars, he does not currently have insurance and the operation costs $60,000.
“I have this little tiny problem in that I don’t actually have health insurance,” Foley wrote on Facebook. He said that for 26 years, he had health insurance but for the past four years, things got more complicated and in 2016 he missed a payment and was no longer insured.
He said that he will try his best in 2017 to get insurance but doesn’t know if a new insurance company will shell out the money for surgery that should have been done several years ago. Foley also revealed that he’s on a handshake deal with WWE and is in the job as long as he enjoys it and as long as WWE is happy with him. “No contract involved at all, except for the legends deal, which is strictly about merchandise,” Foley wrote, explaining why the Raw GM has to buy his own health insurance.
He did say though that ever since he took on the job, the pain has increased and once this job is gone and travel will be much less, the “quality of life will probably improve when Stephanie and WWE decide to go in a new direction.” The WWE Hall of Famer added that with or without a hip replacement, he will still lead a good life as there is enough medication out there to help with the pain. “I hope that I am given the opportunity to take advantage of the new technology.
Maybe some enterprising orthopedic specialist can think outside the box and look at me as a potential poster-boy for their services. If The Rock can sell tires, then I have to believe I can sell hip replacements,” Foley wrote.
