Not to be outdone by Smackdown who will have a Tag Team title match on the first episode of 2018, Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced today that there will be an Intercontinental title match on the New Year’s Day edition of Monday Night Raw.
The match will feature champion Roman Reigns taking on challenger Samoa Joe…with the stipulation that if Roman Reigns is disqualified, he will not only lose the match, but the title as well. In regular rules, titles do not change hands on count-out or disqualifications.
Someone on Twitter asked the question what would happen if someone attacks Joe on purpose to get Reigns disqualified, a valid question that one other Twitter user suggested that he might have spoiled the ending of the match!
This will be the first ever live Raw on New Year’s Day.
