Hideo Itami cannot catch a break since he moved to NXT and another injury looks like is going to sideline him for several weeks.
Itami was injured in May 2015 and his shoulder problem required surgery. It was expected that he’d be out for six months however there were further complications and only returned in June of this year, 13 months after he got injured. He made his NXT television return on August 3 and then confronted Austin Aries at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II.
His return was short lived though as during the October 1 NXT non-televised live event in Largo, Florida, he suffered a neck injury after he was on the receiving end of a powerslam from Riddick Moss.
Today it was confirmed that Itami will be dropped from the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament and his former tag team partner, Kota Ibushi, is now a one-man team with no partner yet chosen.
In an exclusive interview with WWE.com, Itami admitted that he is unsure if he will be able to compete at NXT Takeover: Toronto, but he vowed to be at NXT’s first event in his home country of Japan on December 3 in Osaka.
