Guam’s Pacific Daily News newspaper is carrying a story about Olympic wrestler Jeff Cobb attending a tryout at the WWE Performance Center earlier this month.
The three day tryout was held between September 4 and 6 and those who attended will wait four to six weeks to see what the future holds for them. Cobb said that WWE coaches “killed them” to see if they were going to quit.
“There was a lot of people that had to sit out for a bit, be it from dizziness, cramping, aches and pains, but everybody made it through the three days, some better than others,” Cobb said.
The 5 foot 10, 250lbs Guam flag bearer from the 2004 Olympic Games, Cobb wrestles in California and Nevada, and performed in front of Bill Demott, Billy Gunn, and Dusty Rhodes for his tryout.
“The tryout was one of the coolest things I’ve done in my life,” he said. “Being able to be there and seeing these guys you see on TV, seeing these legends that are there watching you do your craft and giving me feedback. It’s amazing.”
Cobb added that the coaches said that they liked what they saw and he would be reporting to NXT if he is picked.
