The WWE Hall of Fame class of 2016 has just got some law enforcement addition as The Big Boss Man has just been announced as the latest member for this year’s ceremony.
Big Boss Man, real name Ray Traylor, made his professional wrestling debut in 1985 as Big Bubba Rogers and wrestled for the UWF for a year before leaving for the WWE. Managed by Slick, Boss Man arrived in WWE in June 1988 and teamed up with the One Man Gang to form the Twin Towers. After a couple of years as a heel, Big Boss Man turned face in 1990 and had several feuds against The Heenan Family, The Mountie, Nailz, and others.
In 1993 he jumped to WCW first as The Boss and then as The Guardian Angel before adopting his old name of Big Bubba Rogers. He spent five years in WCW and was part of the Dungeon of Doom and the nWo.
In 1998 he returned to the WWE and joined The Corporation. Perhaps his most memorable feud during his second WWE run was with Al Snow that involved Snow’s chihuahua dog Pepper. Boss Man took Pepper and “fed him” to Snow in a backstage segment after serving him with a dish that was supposedly made of Pepper’s remains. The feud led to the infamous Kennel from Hell match, a cage match with dogs surrounding the ring to prevent them from escaping. Another memorable one was when he dragged Big Show’s father casket from the funeral using a chain hooked up to a car with Big Show “casket surfing.” He was released for WWE in 2003.
Traylor passed away on September 22, 2004, at the age of 41 at his home in Dallas, Georgia.
