WWE will hold its largest ever WrestleMania tonight inside the largest domed structure in the United States, the AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys NFL team.
Completed in May 2009, the $1.3 billion stadium holds 80,000 football fans however it can hold over 100,000 fans in different configurations, making it one of the biggest stadiums in the world.
The AT&T Stadium site covers 73 total acres and the overall site encompasses approximately 140 total acres. The 180 feet wide by 120 feet high glass doors are the largest operable glass doors in the world and take 18 minutes to open or close. The roof is 660,000 square feet with panels 410 feet by 256 feet weighing 1.7 million pounds each. It takes 12 minutes to open or close the domed structure.
The stadium once held the record of the largest HD TV screen in the world, measuring a staggering 160 feet x 72 feet. There are also over 3,000 LCD displays throughout the luxury suites, concourses, concession areas etc.
Major events held at the AT&T Stadium include the Super Bowl XLV in 2011, the 2009 Big XII Football Championship and Cotton Bowl, the 2010 NBA All-Star Game and the 2014 men’s Final Four.
The first regular season game at the Cowboys Stadium set an NFL regular-season attendance record with a crowd of 105,121 on September 20, 2009.
WWE will announce a new record attendance for a WrestleMania during the show.
