In a press call yesterday to promote Double or Nothing, AEW President Tony Khan said that the deal for the new show Collision is pretty much the same as they have right now with Dynamite and Rampage.
Khan failed to provide any numbers when it comes to how much AEW is getting paid extra, if they are, and suggested that Collision’s deal will expire when the rest of the AEW TV deal runs out at the end of this year. WBD do have an option year, meaning they can pick up their shows without renegotiating anything if they wish to extend it, but only for one year.
Khan did add that it was WBD who requested a new show from AEW and also got the exclusivity, which is why AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation were canceled from YouTube.
The young AEW President was bullish on running Collision on Saturday nights, noting that Saturday is the best to sell tickets and do live shows. He did acknowledge that they have to run against NFL and other popular sports on that day for most of the year which will make television ratings challenging.
