In an interview with Bleacher Report last weekend, AEW EVP Cody Rhodes said that once his wrestling career is up, he wants to get involved in politics.
He said he’s currently 35 years old and only wants to wrestle until he’s 40, at which point he would like to enter the political arena.
“I have political aspirations. I would love to run for the Senate in the great state of Georgia. I want to help with the sphere of influence I have created. I always say if you do the work, it will pay off,” Rhodes told BR in the interview.
Shooting for a Senate seat isn’t an easy task and it’s a very, very costly affair. Former WWE President Linda McMahon tried to run for Senate twice, and twice lost, blowing millions of dollars in the process.
Wrestlers getting into politics isn’t something new, and sometimes it works too. Glenn “Kane” Jacobs is currently the Mayor of Knox County while WWE Hall of Famer Jesse “The Body” Ventura was the Governor of Minnesota.
