Netflix cancels The Big Show Show after one season

Deadline.com is reporting that Netflix has opted not to pick up a second season of The Big Show Show, the collaboration between the streaming giant and WWE Studios featuring WWE Superstar The Big Show.

A total of eight episodes are part of the first – and only – season with Big Show starring with Allison Munn, Reylynn Caster, Juliet Donenfeld, Lily Brooks O’Briant, and Jaleel White. In the series, Show plays a retired WWE Superstars whose teenage daughter goes to live with him, his wife, and two other daughters.

Series co-creator Jason Berger thanked Netflix and all the fans in a message on Twitter after the news made it online. “On behalf of the staff, cast, and crew of #thebigshowshow…thank you to everyone who watched either with your fam or alone in your basement. Netflix was a dream to work with AND we had a blast making the show. Rare air! Please take care of each other,” Berger wrote.

Deadline adds that a one-off Christmas special of The Big Show Show will air on Netflix in December. The episode was filmed a few months ago.

WWE files lawsuit against 14 users for using BitTorrent to distribute movie

WWE, through its WWE Studios Finance company, has filed at 10-page lawsuit in the district of Connecticut against a group of 14 users who were distributing its newest movie Eliminators through the popular peer-to-peer software BitTorrent. The story was originally reported by worldipreview.com.

All users identified live in the state of Connecticut, identified through the geolocation of IP addresses shared by the Internet Service Providers. WWE does not know the names of the defendants yet. “WWE believes that information obtained in discovery will lead to the identity of each Defendant and will allow WWE to amend this Complaint accordingly. WWE also intends to seek further discovery from the Defendants in order to determine the identity of the specific party responsible for the infringement,” the lawsuit reads.

WWE is looking for defendants to be required to pay to WWE either the actual damages the WWE has sustained because of the infringement or else statutory damages in the amount of $150,000 per infringement.

Trailer for The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania animated movie released

The trailer for The Jetsons and WWE animated movie titled Robo-WrestleMania was released today by Warner Bros Animation and WWE Studios.

The story revolves around The Big Show, who is brought back to life after 100 years frozen as he takes over the World Wrobot (the W is silent!) Entertainment and the Jetsons’ world. In order to save their city, George, Elroy, and the rest of the Jetsons travel back to earth to enlist the help of several WWE Superstars including Sheamus, Seth Rollins, The Usos, Roman Reigns, Alicia Fox, Mr. McMahon, and others.

The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania will be available on Tuesday, February 28 on Digital HD and on Tuesday, March 14 on DVD, just in time for WrestleMania.

WWE Superstars have already teamed up with The Flintstones and Scooby-Doo, with WBHE Vice President of Family & Animation Marketing Mary Ellen Thomas calling them a great success. “Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is proud to add The Jetsons, another iconic franchise, to this collection of adventures alongside the WWE Superstars fans love,” she said.

All the Superstars who are in the movie did their own voicer overs which adds more authenticity to the animated flick. You can check out the trailer below.

Details on upcoming WWE/Scooby-Doo movie revealed

WWE Superstars will be mixing it up with Scooby-Doo this Summer with the movie Scooby Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon coming out on August 9.

The animated movie is co-produced by WWE Studios, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation and will be available on Blu-Ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD.

WWE Superstars The Undertaker, Triple H, Sheamus, Paige, Lana, Rsuev, The Miz, Kofi Kingston, Goldust, Vince McMahon, and Stephanie McMahon all recorded their own voice-overs for their respective characters.

This is the second collaboration between WWE and the Scooby-Doo brand. “The huge fan reaction to ‘Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery’ proved how well the gang paired with the WWE Superstars. The synopsis for this new movie reads, “When Scooby and the gang attend an off-road racing competition, the last thing they expect is to stumble upon a menacing phantom. However, before they can say “ruh-roh,” things take a turn for the worse, as Inferno schemes to sabotage the race and cause chaos for everyone. With the help of WWE Superstars Triple H, Paige and Sheamus, as well as Scooby’s new driving partner, The Undertaker, it’s up to Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang to save the race before it’s too late!”

Several WWE Superstars cast for The Marine 5: Battleground movie

WWE Studios and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions have teamed up to produce The Marine 5: Battleground.

The fifth installment of The Marine franchise will feature several WWE Superstars with The Miz reprising his title role and joining him will be his wife Maryse, Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, and Naomi. James Dunn will be directing the movie which is written by Ed McHenry and Rory McHenry.

Filming kicks off May 31 in Vancouver. The synopsis of the movie according to Deadline Hollywood reads, “The Miz returns as Jake Carter, an ex-Marine who served in the Middle East and is now saving civilian lives stateside as an EMT. He finds himself protecting an injured man from a ruthless biker gang and utilizes his unique skills to stop the bikers’ rampage.”

WWE Studios teams up with Gene Simmons for new horror label

Variety is reporting that WWE Studios has teamed up with Gene Simmons to launch label Erebus Pictures to finance and produce horror movies.

“The horror genre continues to fascinate me as it proves to be endlessly thrilling and engaging for audiences,” said Simmons.

“Horror films fall into a genre that thrives on genuine passion, and I believe this partnership truly capitalizes on that sentiment and supports our vision,” said Michael Luisi, President of WWE Studios.

The deal starts with a three-picture co-production launching with the movie Temple, originally acquired and developed by WWE Studios.

Lana lands her first WWE Studios movie ‘Interrogation’ with Lionsgate

In a post on Twitter, WWE Diva Lana announced that she will be starring in a new WWE Studios movie which will be produced with Lionsgate titled Interrogation.

WWE Studios acquired the rights for this movie back in June 2012, a suspense thriller by Adam Rodin. The plot revolves around an interrogator who is called in to question a prime suspect in a planned Las Vegas bombing before time runs out.

In the short video, Lana said her role will be “to save the day” just like she does every week on WWE TV!

“Interrogation is a white-knuckle ride, filled with unexpected twists and turns,” said WWE Studios President Michael Luisi back in 2012 when the company acquired the rights. “We are excited to begin work on Adam’s engaging screenplay.”

Leprechaun: Origins to receive limited theatrical release this month

The WWE Studios and Lionsgate production of the movie Leprechaun: Origins, will have a limited a theatrical run on August 22 after it received a good reception at the San Diego Comic Con.

The movie, featuring WWE Superstar Hornswoggle, will be released on Digital HD, Video On Demand, and pay-per-view on August 26 following by a Blu-Ray and DVD release on September 30.

Also starring are Stephanie Bennett, Andrew Dunbar, Melissa Roxburgh and Brendan Fletcher. It was written by Harris Wilkinson and directed by Zach Lipovsky.

The synopsis of the movie reads, “Backpacking through the lush Irish countryside, two unsuspecting young couples discover a town’s chilling secret. Ben (Dunbar), Sophie (Bennett), David (Fletcher) and Jeni (Roxburgh) quickly discover the idyllic land is not what it appears to be when the town’s residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon, the friends will find that one of Ireland’s most famous legends is a terrifying reality.”

Kane and Hornswoggle at Comic Con San Diego for WWE Studios

WWE Studios and Lionsgate will host a panel to highlight and share secrets from the set of their soon-to-be-released Leprechaun: Origins and See No Evil 2 at the upcoming Comic-Con International in San Diego.

The panel will feature See No Evil 2 directors Jen and Sylvia Soska, who will be joined by Kane and “scream queen” Danielle Harris. Also in attendance will be the director of Leprechaun: Origins, Zach Lipovsky, along with Hornswoggle.

During the panel, WWE Studios president Michael Luisi will unveil the reimagined looks of the new Leprechaun and Jacob Goodnight to fans.

The panel, hosted by Carrie Keagan, will take place in room #7AB at 7PM PST on Thursday, July 24. Fans will also have the opportunity to meet the stars at an autograph signing on the convention floor just prior to the panel, from 5:30PM to 6:30PM PST at the Lionsgate booth (#4045). Cast and crew will be signing a convention exclusive two-sided poster featuring art from both films.
